The Blair Witch Project project

This film was a success despite the funds they were working with, goes to show that as long as you use what you have effectively and have a great scenario you can have a good film though the Blair Witch was a success due to the fact that is was something totally different seems real as this was just someone recording with a camera which sort of worked as an immersive technique which seemed to have worked, with this idea they where able to do this with just $60,000 which is incredibly low in regards of other films which have budgets somewhere in the millions but they managed to make millions. The three protagonists where not actors before the blair witch they where just people who wanted to be part of an independent horror film as they could not afford high tier actors for the film. They used the fact that they could not afford a good camera to their advantage and were successful doing so. You never get to see the witch in the film probably because they thought it was a pointless use of money for costumes etc and thought they could save money making people wonder. there was never any props really that would be very expensive just stuff like flash lights and a cheap handheld camera. There was no lighting which again used this to their advantage to make it look like a real vlog. It was never done in a film set it was made outside in the woods. There was no CGI which is to be expected from an independent horror project which would ruin the point of the film which makes it unique as you can usually tell what is CGI and what ins't especially since this was 1999.
