Brut Rebranding Evaluation/Synopsis

Synopsis
when came to re branding we as a group decided to go with my idea which would be to rebrand brut for teenage sport enthusiasts as we agreed that I had the good idea of showing a confident kid who keeps getting pushed around by a bully who keeps stealing the ball of him and bullies him putting him of doing what he enjoys, that is until he tries on the fragrance that all the other confident sporty kids use and has the confidence to stand up for himself and continue doing what he enjoys as the bully learns the same thing from the experience which is the message I wanted to portray in this advertisement and think its a positive thing and entices more kids to go outside and play what ever they enjoy.

Brut Evaluation
The brief was to re brand a product from the company Unilever which is a company that owns other company and have a big horizon of different products from food and drink, home care and self-care products in which we had to pick an item of the  three categories and rebrand them in the ways that we choose. We pick the ones by looking at the age group from statistics and see if they have potential to expand the horizons for others to have interest in the product but only if it has potential we wouldn’t re brand home cleaning products for children when rebranding with advertisement.
When it came for me, I was inspired by the success of Old Spice for their dramatic change from generally being for elders to being for young men in their 20-30s which was a big success, and it was all to do with advertisement. So for me the best option from the Uni lever list would be Brut which was a very masculine fragrance for middle aged men, and since the company itself is not as known by lots of people considering its bias towards middle aged men, I thought it would be a good idea to change the age range for young teenage boys, this is a good idea because the theme of the advertisement I used is sports as I planned to reel in the sporty teenage boys who love sports and generally love being boys. I decided to show success in the sport world as other boys become intimidated by the instant masculine confidence you gain from using it in which we depicted in our advertisement. The group as a whole decided it was a good idea as its effective in its role as it’s already a masculine fragrance we are just adjusting it towards another typically masculine thing which is sports which will only do good as it will gain a different audience. I can even goes as far as to say its was more gritty than most adverts that are released which are typically all cheerful with the major scale type music and being quite colorful, I wanted to do the opposite I wanted to stand out by using a dark co louring filter with some rock music in the background to capture the essence of man not caring what others think of them and just working on what they want to achieve and getting there which is what I wanted to emphasise as the guy who played the victim of bullying didn't have a lot of self confidence and what the advert shown is that with this lack of confidence you either become a bully because of something you are self conscious about or be the victim I wanted to have Brut be the mcguffin in the advert for self confidence and not caring what others think. We also used some nice shots such as the low and high angle shots we used to represent the persons power like the kid in the advert he was above the bullies level the whole time he just didn't know it because he was keep being put down by others and then himself. As for Mise En Scene a lot of people would know straight away he was suspicious because of the use of black colour and the kid was wearing white what they don't know is they both have problems he is a bully for a reason either to make up for something etc and the kid has self confidence issues the black and white video coloring compliment the idea of both of them join together and being understandable of one another as their clothes are the same colours as the effects. We also did an editing effect that features two clips ontop of each other showing him being bullied to show that we are in his head and thinking of all the times he has been bullied.

I think my advert is good as it displays a simple enough message that people will easily understand and think that from the simplicity certain people may find it easier to connect with. I can support this as we did a questionnaire which you can see above this post and says that our advertisement fits the age group  understood the message as they where from boys with the right age group so it was mostly positive, i will create a chart with these results. The advert could work with people who are not as confident as other confident kids are using it, it could help him become one of them as he is associating himself with them when using this fragrance. Or just the already sporty teens who who want it to just smell some what intimidating and manly and not smell while they play their favourite sports, and the advert doesn't break any terms of the bcap code as no one gets hurt and no copyright music. When making our advert it was quite organised as it was more or less straight forward as we didn't have to keep doing idea changes or need lots of equipment.
